Acceptable Use Policy

Purpose

LinkToGroups exists to help people find genuine, active and safe online communities. This policy sets out what may be listed and how you must behave. It forms part of our Terms of Service and applies to everyone — visitors, listing owners and advertisers alike.

Content that is never allowed

  • Anything illegal under applicable law.
  • Child sexual abuse material, or any sexualisation of minors. This is reported to the relevant authorities and results in a permanent ban.
  • Content promoting or facilitating terrorism, violent extremism or human trafficking.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery, or content sexualising real people without their consent.
  • Scams, phishing, pyramid and Ponzi schemes, fake investment or "signal" services, and financial deception of any kind.
  • Malware, credential harvesting, or links that disguise where they actually lead.
  • Sale of prohibited or heavily regulated goods — drugs, weapons, stolen data, counterfeit documents, hacked accounts.
  • Hate speech or harassment targeting people by race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
  • Doxxing, threats, or coordinated harassment.
  • Content infringing someone else's copyright or trademark — see Copyright & Content Complaints.

Behaviour that is not allowed

  • Submitting the same community repeatedly, or through several accounts, to occupy more of the directory.
  • Misleading titles, descriptions, categories or locations — including listing a community against a country it has no connection to in order to capture that country's traffic.
  • Claiming a community you neither own nor are authorised to promote.
  • Filing false reports against other people's listings.
  • Automated scraping, bulk submission, or attempts to manipulate health scores, view counts or rankings.

Adult communities

Lawful communities intended for adults are permitted, but must be categorised honestly. They are excluded from the homepage, from default browsing and search, and from our sitemaps; they are never indexed by search engines; and they are shown only after a visitor confirms they are 18 or over. Mis-categorising adult content as general is treated as a serious breach.

Platform rules still apply

Every community listed here also lives under the rules of the platform hosting it. A listing that breaches those rules may be removed from this directory whether or not it breaches this policy.

Reporting

Anyone can report a listing, with or without an account, using the report control on the listing itself. Reports of illegal content are prioritised. Please do report — it is the main reason this directory stays clean.

How we enforce

Depending on severity and history we may hide a listing pending review, ask the owner to correct it, reject or delete it, suspend or ban the account, and — where the law requires — report the matter to the authorities. Listings that accumulate reports past a threshold can be hidden automatically before a person has reviewed them.

Appeals

If you believe we got it wrong, reply to the notice we sent or contact us, and a person will review it. We would rather correct a mistake than defend one.
